I am a Malaysian artist living and working in Canada.
I learn and began painting seriously after moving here (in early 2024), during a period of quiet, distance, and adjustment. Painting became a way for me to slow down and pay attention—to places, memories, and small moments that might otherwise pass unnoticed.
My work is often rooted in observation and memory. I am drawn to landscapes, still life, and everyday scenes, not for their spectacle, but for their atmosphere and emotional residue. Having grown up near the sea in Malaysia and later experiencing vast Canadian landscapes, I am interested in how place shapes feeling, and how memory softens and reshapes what we see.
I work primarily in acrylic and watercolor, allowing the process to remain open and responsive. Rather than aiming for precision, I focus on mood, balance, and honesty. I am less interested in capturing how something looks, and more in how it felt to be there.
As an artist still in development, my practice is a continuous process of learning—learning to see more clearly, to sit with uncertainty, and to trust quiet moments. Painting, for me, is not about arrival, but about staying attentive.
